Ingredients for Suya Spice Mix (Yaji Spice)
- The Chef Kankan
- The Chef Meat
- Salt to taste
Meat
- 1 to 2 pounds beef (sirloin, ribeye, chuck roast), cut into thin strips
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- Prepare the Skewers: Soak wooden skewers in water for 20 minutes to prevent burning during cooking
Season the Meat:
- Toss the beef with vegetable oil and about half the suya spice mix, coating evenly. Cover and marinate for at least 1 hour.(suya spices are a mixture of The Chef Kankan and The Chef Meat)
- Skewer and Season: Thread 3-4 strips of marinated beef onto each skewer. Sprinkle the remaining suya spice on both sides of the skewered meat for extra flavor.
- Cook:
- Grill the skewers over charcoal or a hot grill for 3–5 minutes per side until cooked through with light charring.
- Alternatively, bake in a preheated oven at 450°F (230°C) for 12–15 minutes, broiling the last 3 minutes for a crispy finish.
- Serve: Serve hot with sliced onions, fresh tomatoes, and sometimes with flatbread or salad.
